When your heart is breaking, give yourself time to grieve!
There is no time frame for healing.
For some people it can be quick, for others, it can take much longer.
It can also be dependent on the situation.
So if you need to take more time, than take it!
Just remember, don’t unpack there.

Everyone deals with situations differently.
Just because someone else doesn’t hurt/ feel bad doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to!
Everyone has a different back story.
Where they grew up. How they grew up. What their family dynamics were and are. What experiences they’ve had.
And as a reminder: as much as we should be allowed to heal in our own way, we need to be conscious of allowing others to do the same.
Know that it will, at some point, pass.
It may not ever completely go away but the heavy pain will lessen a little.
Think of it as a season.
Nothing bad (or for that matter, we must remember, good) lasts forever.
When your heart is breaking learn the Serenity Prayer.
I went through a period in my life were I printed the prayer out and repeated it at least once a day.
I know most people think of it being associated with AA but it is definitely for all of us.
Focusing on the words, their meanings can really help get you tough hard times.

Understand whether it’s in your control or not.
This goes along with the prayer.
When your heart is breaking and it’s out of your control, then do your best to let it go.
I know it’s not easy, believe me.
But, if there is nothing you can do to change your situation then do what you can to start moving forward.
Talk to someone
Whether it be a confidant or a professional, sometimes just talking about your heart break can be beneficial.
Write it down.
Just like talking to someone but not getting/ having feedback, which you might not want or be ready for anyway.
Writing it down can be a great way to get out your feelings instead of keeping them bottled up!
When your heart is breaking, Cry!
Let yourself have a good cry, or three!
It can feel so good and freeing to have a good ole cry fest.
Did you know crying releases certain chemicals like oxytocin (the love hormone) and endorphins (the feel-good chemicals)?
Which, of course, actually help us calm down!
So even if you have to go to your car to get some alone time and cry, do it.
You’ll feel better 🙂
