Weight Loss Tips
Before we start, let me be honest.
These tips might seem unusual but if you keep them in mind and focus on them I promise you will meet your goals.
Drink Your Water
I’ve mentioned this in a previous post, Ways to drink more water.
Making sure to get your water in each day is super important!
So, they say to get in 8 8-ounces of water per day, right?
That’s sixty-four ounces.
That’s a great start but if you’re trying to lose weight then you’ll probably want to up that to half your body weight.
So let’s say you weight 200 lbs, then you should try to get in 100 ounces every day.
I know it seems like a lot.
And don’t try to up it to that all at once because it will more than likely not make you feel well.
I started getting in maybe around 70-ounces each day.
Now I find myself getting in closer to 168-ounces!
I drink when I’m thirsty but also inbetween ‘moments’ throughout the day.
Also, at meals.
I have a lemon tea at breakfast-time and peppermint tea at dinner.

Increase Your Weights
Yup, here I go again 🙂
Lifting weights is one of the best weight loss tips I can give!
It will help you with your journey and in your overall health.
Related: Customizable dumbbells
You don’t need to go get a gym membership or even buy expensive weights.
You can accomplish a lot by just using body weight!
And no, this will not get you big and bulky but will help increase your muscle mass which will then help burn more fat.
Increase Your Protein
When you start to exercise, especially weight lifting you need to increase your protein.
I’ll be honest.
I just recently learned this weight loss tips myself!
In all the years I’ve been exercising and working I’ve never heard this suggestion.
Why do you need to up your protein.
Well, if you want to keep all the wonderful muscle mass you’re building then you’ll want that protein to protect it.
How much should you eat?
If you are lifting and trying to lose fat then sticking to about one gram per body weight is a good place to start.
If this sounds like to much try one gram per how much you want to weight.
For example, if you’re starting at 200 lbs but want to get down to 125 lbs then shoot for 125 grams of protein per day.
Now, this is not weight, this is the amount of protein in what you’re eating.
A six-ounce piece of cod has about 26 grams of protein.
Two tablespoons of peanut butter has 6 grams of protein.
It does take a little getting use to tracking this but finding a good app will be extrememly helpful.
I have a Samsung cell and it came with a health app.
I use it to track my protein.
Otherwise, try My Fitness Pal.
I encourage you to try it for at least a few weeks.
If nothing else you’ll get to see just how much you’re eating and which foods have the highest proteins.
Weight Loss Tips For Success
So here are the best weight loss tips that I have found for myself and I know they will work for you too!
Set Small Goals
We all start there, right?
I want to lose X amount of weight or I want to get down to X lbs.
Believe me, I was there up until about a month ago!
Set small goals to stay motivated.
Now, I still would love to get down to X amount of pounds but I’m also focusing on reaching that next small goal.
I’ve got about forty more pounds I’d like to lose.
So for me?
Instead of thinking about forty pounds.
And just how much time it’s going to take to get there, I’m focusing on getting down into the next decade.
Example: getting out of the 190’s and into the 180’s.
Or how about walking a few more steps, increasing your weights another 5lbs, or doing one more push-up.
Those goals will come more quickly than those forty pounds and will help keep you excited to keep going!
Change your goal (maybe)
But speaking of goals.
Not only am I working towards my next small goal, I’ve also decided that maybe losing only thirty more pounds will be enough.
If I fit into my smaller clothes, yes those ones I’ve been holding onto for too long, I’ll be happy to stop losing weight.
I don’t want to be bound by a number.
If I feel good, fit into my clothes well, and feel comfortable with it all, I’ll be happy to stay at whatever weight.
Stay Consistent
And by consistent I don’t mean that you have to be perfect every day or for that matter perfect period.
Just consistent.
There will always be situations, moments, days, weeks, vacations that will test your consistency but this is why the next point is so important too.
Can you stick with it for the rest of your life?
If you’re on such a strict program that if you miss a day or more that it all falls apart then that isn’t a great lifestyle, right?
For me, right now, especially since I’ve working on losing weight about four major times (this being my fourth) in my life, I’ve always said it’d be for life.
This time is no different except for a lot of these important weight loss tips in this post!!!
In the past, what I’ve done, clearly, wasn’t something I could do for the rest of my life.
Mostly it’s included serious calorie deficiency and a few times an hour-plus workout 6 days a week.
Not exactly a plan that can be stuck with during vacations or holidays, right?
These days I’m all about finding a balance while still enjoying my food.
Strength training a few day a week to build my muscle and burn that fat while living life with my family.
So, my hope and prayer, again, is that I can maintain this for the rest of my life.
Working out a few days a week without being in a gym or needing that big equipment is freeing.
We love to travel so finding something that I can do while we’re out and about is extremely important.
Plus knowing I can enjoy my food whenever is equally important 🙂
Grab a measuring tape (a.k.a put away the scale)
You heard that right!
If you use your scale but get upset when .2 pounds of weight show up or are so focused on that final number then this tip is for you.
Remember, within a day your weight can fluctuate up to 5 pounds!!!!
I’ve found it’s better to measure yourself with a measuring tape, or,if you don’t have that, get that dress, shorts/pants you want to get back into and try them on.
I just saw pictures of a lady who took pictures of herself putting on a dress she was determined to get back into.
Not only could you see her progress just through the pictures, she could too!
You don’t need a measuring tape or anything fancy.
Find something you’d like to get into and use that as your goal posts.
Be Patient
This last weight loss tip is so, so key!!!
And possibly the most important out of all of them.
Whether you have only a few pounds to lose or more than 50 or even 100 it is going to take time.
Especially if you do it ‘the right’ way.
Meaning, no crash dieting, no crazy eating or exercising.
Just eating well, getting in your proteins and exercise.
Taking your time will be more beneficial in the long run then a quick lose.
In Conclusion
And there you have it.
Weight loss tips you may never have heard before but will help you 100%.
I wish you the best of luck on your journey.
Remember, stay patient and consistent!!
P.S. You may have a lot of psychological items you’ll need to work through too.
Work through them.
Focus on your goals.
Every day counts.
Every moment counts.
