Are you looking for ways to de-stress at home?
We all have days and/or times when we feel overly stressed.
It’s so easy, isn’t it?
Sometimes it’s extremely little things that get us going.
Yet there are those other times when they are huge things.
Now, did you know that they’ve found that some stress is actually good for you?
Yup, that’s right.
They’ve found that it can help keep your brain and body healthy.

Stress
Defined by Merriam-Webster:
-A physical, chemical, or emotional factor that causes bodily or mental tension and may be a factor in disease causation.
and
-A state resulting from a stress especially : one of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium.
So, to de-stress we have to figure out how to ease or release the above-mentioned tension.
How To De-Stress At Home
1- Listen to some music.
Specifically whatever type of music you love.
Country, rock, pop, alternative.
Turn it on and enjoy!
I’m a dance/pop music lover but I’ll be honest, there are times when some Limp Bizkit, a rap rock group, turned up loud!

2. Change your scenery.
So, I know this post is about how to de-stress at home but it’s still possible to change your scenery.
Go outside, to another room.

3. Read a book.
Find your favorite book or one you’ve been craving to read and get to it.
Find a comfy spot in your house and settle in.
4. Call a friend.
Reach out to someone you trust or even just someone you haven’t talked to in a while.
You don’t have to talk about what’s stressing you.
Just talking with someone about life can do wonders.
5. Exercise.
If you’re trying to figure out how to de-stress at home this is one of the best!
It doesn’t have to be strenuous.
Just moving, exerting yourself will start to help relieve that stress.
Exercise can solve a myriad of problems!
6. Take a hot shower/bath.
Let the heat and the steam wash over you.
The heat will help relax your muscles and ease your tension.
7. Nap.
Yup.
If you can get your mind off of what’s stressing you out long enough to fall asleep, a nap will do wonders!
8. Dance.
So, I know I already mentioned exercise, but I want you to think of this differently.
I’m talking about following #1, turn some favorite music up loud and dance around.
If you have to do it in your bathroom, garage or spare room do it!
Put in earplugs if that’s necessary and just let yourself go.
9. Write/Journal.
Don’t feel like you need to write specifically about what you need to de-stress from.
Just write.
Maybe try writing a few things that you’re grateful for.
How about places you’d love to travel to.
What about what is stressing you, or better yet, why it’s stressing you.
Sometimes having things written out helps.
It’s ‘out’ of your mind and onto some paper!
10. Deep breathes/Meditate
Take a few minutes and at least take a few breathes.
I got a ‘smart’ watch for Christmas and it has a breathing exercise built into it.
It gently vibrates once to let you know it’s time to inhale and then twice to exhale.
It goes through about six cycles and it really has been helpful.

Check your smart watch or check on your cell phone to see what options you can find there.
Trust me, it’s worth the time to take a few minutes here and there throughout your day to take some deep breathes!
