Travel Safety Tip
Avoid Nighttime
Now, I know this one is probably going to be unpopular but we all know that it’s less safe at night than during the day.
With that being said, if you’re planning on enjoying the nightlife while you’re traveling make sure you take into account these travel safety tips:
- Only go if you know it’s safe.
- Go with a local you trust.
- Travel as a group, whether it be a tour group or just a group of friends.
- Know where you’re going. How to get there and get back to your accommodations.

Travel in a group
Especially if it’s your first few times traveling and/or you’re going somewhere you don’t know or speak the native language.
We all know the saying, ‘Safety in numbers’.
Know where you’re going
So I mentioned this up in the nighttime section and it bears repeating as a travel safety tip in general.
When you travel, know where you’re going.
And I don’t just mean the name of the city, state or country.
I mean, the name of the hotel/hostel/lodging you have set up, the street it’s on, where the sites and attractions you want to visit are.
Know approximately how you’ll get to places and how you’ll get back.
When I lived in New York City it took a little bit to learn and understand the subway system.
Are you going northbound, southbound, east, west?
If you start going the wrong way it could really be a headache to get headed in the right direction.
Learn the language
This is one of the top travel safety tips you can learn.
Learn a few words in the language of the country you’ll be traveling to.
I’m not talking about learning the whole language but a few key words, even if pronounced with an accent, wrong, etc. will be greeted with a smile and possibly more of a helping hand.
Try to learn and use a few of these: Thank you, Please, Hello, Goodbye, How much, Bathroom.
Keep personal items on you
And I do mean on you.
If you can be wearing your passport, money, and ids, they will be safer than if they are in a purse or backpack.
They have so many different clothing options with hidden pockets there’s no reason not to.
For women, there are infinity scarves and bras with built-in hidden pockets.
For men, there are belts, socks and yes even underwear!
Trust your gut
If something doesn’t feel right then trust your gut!
It’s not worth finding out you were right and having a mishap during your trip.
In Conclusion
And there you have it.
Don’t travel without checking out these travel safety tips.
Have fun and be safe 🙂
