Pray
When was the last time you prayed?
Just a few minutes ago?
This morning?
Last night?
The last time something bad happened to you?
On your last flight?
Never?
You’re not alone if one of these last ones was your answer!
And even if you’re not religious or consider yourself religious, I hope you stay with me through this post.
Because, I don’t want you to think of this as a religious thing.
So, I’m not going to tell you that you have to pray every day, every minute or in every situation. Although, I’ll be honest, in my opinion, it’s not such a bad idea 🙂
Pray and a weight will be lifted.
I’d like to put what might be considered to some as being a twist on the thought.
How about thinking about it as being thankful for things.
The little things, the big things, your life, others’ lives.
∼
If the only prayer you ever say in your entire life is thank you, it will be enough.
Meister Eckhart (Theologian)
How about this:
∼
In prayer it is better to have a heart without words than words without a heart.
Mahatma Gandhi (Activist)
And this version:
∼
Appreciation is the highest form of prayer, for it acknowledges the presence of good wherever you shine the light of your thankful thoughts.
Alan Cohen (Author)
What about using prayer as a resource:
∼
Never forget the three powerful resources you always have available to you: love, prayer, and forgiveness.
H. Jackson Brown, Jr. (Author)
For Health:
∼
Exercise, prayer, and meditation are examples of calming rituals. They have been shown to induce a happier mood and provide a positive pathway through life’s daily frustrations.
Chuck Norris (Martial Artist)
Last but nowhere least – motivation:
∼
“Do not pray for an easy life, pray for the strength to endure a difficult one”
― Bruce Lee
There you go.
I hope you enjoyed at least a few of these quotes, and did you notice that they weren’t all by the religious but by ‘civilians’ like you and me.
Hope they get you thinking.

I agree! I love that quote too!!!
I’m not a good prayer to be honest, but I’m extremely grateful since praying helped my mom to go through my sister’s sickness and death. I know I should as well. I may try to follow your advice. Thank you for sharing this.
Thank you for sharing honestly! And being grateful is a great start:)
