Really, if you allow yourself time to think about it, it’s really true!

For instance, we got a puzzle for Christmas.

I love puzzles and so every extra chance I have throughout my day (which can literally only be 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there) I’m sitting down to work on it.

I’ve discovered throughout this past week or so there are lots of life lessons that can be learned and practiced while working on a puzzle.

So let’s get started!

Life Lessons in Puzzles

These are in no particular order.

Patience

If you’ve ever worked on a puzzle you understand this life lesson.

Even if you’re only working on a small one.

Just to get started takes patience.

Depending on how you go about doing your puzzle it will always take patience in the beginning.

Sorting puzzle pieces, turning them over, finding the edge pieces, all takes time.

Walk Away

Now this is one life lesson we are not always good at, right?

But walking away from a situation and taking a break is so important.

So sometimes in life you need to be able to look at things with fresh eyes.

And the best way to do that is to walk away for a bit.

Start Small

Every little bit starts to add up.

Yesterday, for instance, I was getting so frustrated because for the life of me I couldn’t find any pieces that went together.

I finally found two then within a minute I probably had found six or so pieces!

Every little start adds up.

Move Things Around

Another reason I had the success I did with starting small was because I moved things around.

This life lesson is one we don’t always think about right?

Remember in my example above.

I said I finally found two.

I feel like the only reason I found those two was because I took the pieces outside of the puzzle and away from the other pieces.

This way I was able to focus on just the pieces I needed to.

Focus

Speaking on focus.

How often in life do you get distracted?

Shiny objects will always get your attentions.

That’s why sometimes you need to find a way to focus on what’s really important.

A life lesson we should always, always keep at the forefront.

How do you stay focused then?

Well, it’ll be different for everyone.

For some, walking away works.

Others, it might be exercising.

Try different options until you find something that works great for you.

Use your Resources

And last but not least is to remember to use your resources.

I noticed this puzzle had the letters A through F printed on the back of each piece.

I realized after awhile that I could use those to help me figure out the puzzle.

Now, I know, I know.

For some of you, and even myself a little :), I know this is cheating.

But, here’s the thing.

The longer I worked on it without it, the more frustrated I got.

It wasn’t fun anymore.

Once I allowed myslef to use the letters it started to become enjoyable again.

I still had to figure out which pieces went where and how they go together, just knew which section they belonged to.
