I’ve always been a sucker when it comes to ice breakers and get to know you games.

I’ll be honest, I’m always a bit hesitant too but ultimately I love them because they help me break out of my shell.

I can be an introvert at times, but then get me started and I’ll be the leader and extrovert in the room!

I hope you’ll enjoy these as much as I do 🙂

Invisible Maze

As I mentioned, this one takes a bit of time to set up but it’s really simple.

You’ll need some painters/frog tape, paper and a pencil.

First, you’ll lay out a grid on the floor using the tape.

The larger the grid the more difficult you can make the maze.

I’d start off with at least a 5×5 grid.

This doesn’t need to be perfect if you don’t have tile or any other type of ‘guide’ lines.

Just make 5 squares by 5 squares.

Now comes the fun part.

Maybe for someone who isn’t actively participating in the maze walking, for example, an older relative who isn’t as capable to stand and move around will draw a matching grid on the paper.

In this case a 5×5 grid.

Then chose a path through the grid to make your maze.

A grid with x's.

Now, this is a very simplistic example but as you can see it doesn’t have to be difficult.

Or, it can be 🙂

You choose where it begins and where it ends and how it winds around the grid.

Once the hidden maze as been decided on the paper grid then it’s up to each person to start choosing a square until the first/beginning square is found.

Then it’s just a matter of each person taking a turn until the whole maze has been discovered.

Now, the way I’ve always played it is to keep it invisible the whole time.

It’s up to the players to remember which square to step into next until everyone can get through the whole maze.

Of course you can make up your own rules.

Feel free to use a marker of some sort to show which squares have been chosen and which ones are correct.

Play it silently.

Don’t let them talk to each other.

They can mime and point but no actual talking.

Get creative and have fun.

We’ve always loved this games!!!

Write 1 Thing

Everyone writes one thing that maybe not everyone would know and see if people can guess who it belongs to.

You can keep it this simple and let it just be a fun interaction.

Or, you can make it a points games.

Whoever gets the most correct wins something.

Think a makeshift trophy or choosing what activity the family does next.

Who’s Wearing What

Sit in a circle, minus one chair.

The person in the middle will call out something like ‘everyone wearing jeans’.

Then everyone who is wearing jeans will get up and find another seat.

So sounds too easy right, or even just not fun.

Well, let me tell you.

The times I’ve played it has become hilarious because everyone has to look down at what they’re wearing.

(You think you know what you’re wearing, until you’re asked what your wearing ;))

20 Questions

This is a favorite of my five-year-old but to be honest, even my parents enjoy it.

Just in case you’ve never played:

The idea is that one person thinks of a person, place, thing or animal.

We typically do animals since my son loves them and it’s easier to have it narrowed down.

So as a group maybe just chose one subject.

Then each person gets a chance to ask a question to try to figure out what the person, place, thing or animal is.

We don’t count how many questions we ask but as the name suggests, it’s suppose to be done in 20 questions.

Obviously, if you have more than 20 people in the group you’d probably want to split up into smaller groups so everyone can get a chance to ask a question

Human Knot

This is one of my all-time favorite family reunion games.

The concept is simple.

In groups, probably no bigger than 10, have everyone stand in a circle.

Everyone will put their right hand out into the center and grab someone else’s hand (not the person next to you).

Then repeat the step with your left hand.

Once the group is tangled up, get yourselves untangled without letting go of each other’s hands.

It is possible to do it, sometimes it just takes longer than others.

Clearly the older generation my not be able to participate but everyone who is even slightly mobile and enjoy this game.

In Conclusion

There you have it!

Five fun family reunion games that everyone will love.

Remember, you don’t need a lot of extra supplies, if any at all, to have a memorable reunion.

Which one of these reunion games do you think your family will enjoy the best? Please share it with us in the comments below. Thanks!
