Enjoy – Thought for the Every Day

When was the last time you did something you enjoyed?

Do you know what you enjoy doing?

And I’m not talking about what you enjoy because it’s what your kids, friends, significant other or family enjoys.

I’m talking about that thing or things that you can do for your own happiness.

Is it something you haven’t been able to do in a while or something you make sure you do often?

For me, one thing is dancing.

And not just dancing in my own home, although that can be just as fulfilling, but learning dance routines.

I love it so much I’ve been known to get on YouTube to find routines to learn.

Not only that but once I found a few co-workers/friends who love to dance too to learn the dance with me.

Challenge: Find something you enjoy, and do it!

Tweet this!

I would consider myself more of a pop/hip-hop dancer. And it’s hard to find adult dance classes that aren’t in the ballroom or ‘adult’ category, unless you’re somewhere like New York or probably California.

You want to know a secret?

I forget just how much I enjoy dance, all the time!

Having a little one, I just don’t think about it, until I get reminded by something.

Like with World of Dance that just started its second season!

Now granted, we have dance parties with my little guy often, but again, it’s not the same is it?

It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness!

My challenge to you, especially if you can’t think of something you enjoy doing:

Find that something! Not only that but I then challenge you to do it!

Research and experiment with new or different hobbies, you might just surprise yourself 🙂

And I’m not talking about going out and spending loads of money.

Yes, it may cost a little to try a hobby out but when it leads to something that makes you happy, that isn’t dependent on another person, trust me, it’s worth it!

Not sure how to go about it?

Well, I’d say start with ideas that you’re already interested in.

You love crafting? Go to a place like Michael’s or Joann Fabric.

Do you love the outdoors? Go and check out REI!

Want to look into golf? Check with a local golf course to see what beginner options they have.

You get the idea 🙂

There’s always a way to rent equipment and ‘test-drive’ a hobby.

So go out there and find that thing you enjoy!

So, what do you enjoy doing? Is it time to make time to enjoy that something?  Please share with us in the comments below so we can all be inspired! Thanks!

  1. Yes, yes, and yes! One of my things is photography. I finally took the time to start editing photos from a trip last night, and the hours FLEW by! I feel so much lighter and happier today because I took the time to do something I love.

  2. I am like Nathalia, I have found a passion for photography. As I was putting more attention on my Instagram page, I found that I was devoting more time to taking photos and editing them. I have received compliments from many people and at the moment I’m just using my cell phone. My goal is to save some money and get a proper camera and do some lessons! 🙂

  3. I love acting as much as I love food. It doesn’t cost loads of money but the time investment required is challenging when one has a family.

  4. This is great. I think people especially as we get older forget those things we truly enjoy and are too busy working for others. However, if you can take the time to stop, think, and make time for those things you truly enjoy personally it can do wonders for you.
For me, I love playing my french horn, travelling, & sitting on my porch reading with a good cigar. Each of those things is uniquely different but when I do them I am happiest.
    Keep Dancing!

    • Ah, thanks so much! And yes, yours are very uniquely different but so wonderful to enjoy 😀 Thank you for sharing!!!!

  5. I was (am) a dancer too! And the summers are fun of good dance TV — World of Dance and So You Think You Can Dance — I am happy, happy, happy! I am going to start exercising again as I am almost 6 months out from my kidney transplant. I am excited about all of the possibilities!

    • Congrats!!! That is exciting, and you know there are lots of exercise dvds that are dance! Have fun and enjoy 😀

  6. We usually try to do something fun every weekend to keep thigs fresh and keep everyone happy.

  7. I absolutely love traveling. I wish I could do more of it.
