Are you trying to figure out how to drink more water each day?
We’ve all heard that you should drink eight 8 oz. of water a day, right?
That’s 64 oz.
How about this, if you’re trying to lose weight you, they say you should drink half your body weight!!!
Let’s just say you weight 200 lbs.
That’s 100 oz. a day!
That’s a lot of water, right?
If you’re struggling to even get in the eight 8 oz. trying to get in almost 13 8 oz. will seem impossible.
Well, I’m here to tell you it’s not.
It does take some getting used to and consistency, and practice but with these little tricks you’ll be well on your way to drinking more water each day!

Drink more water first thing
One tip I read recently, and I’ve actually been trying my hardest to do every morning is to drink a whole water bottle worth of water first thing in the morning.
Not only will this kickstart your day off with a good portion of the amount you should be drinking every day but it will also help get your body moving.
Side note: Be prepared to need to use the bathroom, a lot over the next hour or so!
My water bottle is a 24 oz. bottle so that could easily be a fourth or more of water you already need!
Use a water bottle
Already measured out
Sure, you can use a glass or another container but the nice thing about a water bottle is that since most of them are labeled with the amounts on them you don’t have to guess at how much you’re drinking.
Easy to refill
They are easy to keep with you, whether you’re at home, on the way to work or even shopping!
Use Hair Ties
This goes along with using the water bottle.
Again, let’s say you should drink 100 oz. a day and your water bottle is 24oz.
Put four hair ties around your water bottle and each time you finish it take one tie off.
When you’ve taken off the last hair tie you’ll know you’ve had all your water for the day!
Drink more water at meals
If you have a tendency to have pop or some other sugary drink at mealtime try swapping it for water once a week.
Then twice a week, three times a week, etc.
And in case that doesn’t sound appetizing at all (I feel ya), try flavoring your water.
Flavor your water
You’ve got several options here.
Add Fruit
Do you have a favorite fruit?
Try adding it to your water.
Cutting them up will help them infuse the water faster.
Easy ones to start off with are strawberries, blueberries, lemons/limes, pineapples.
Flavor your water; add a fruit or veggie!
Use Tea
I personally have been adding peppermint tea to my water and it’s actually not bad.
It can take some time to get used to, especially if you’re not a tea drinker but it definitely helps to not be drinking plain water!
Drink more water by eating
Yup, you heard me right!
You can certainly get more water each day by eating foods that are high in water content.
Here are some you probably already know:
- watermelons
- pineapples
- peaches
- celery
- cucumbers
- tomatoes
But here are some you might not have known:
- raspberries
- blueberries
- strawberries
- broccoli
- eggplant
- spinach
So, don’t feel like you have to get all your water in by literally drinking, feel free to eat some too 🙂
In Conclusion
There you have it.
Six easy ways to drink more water each day.
Staying hydrated is so important to your health. (We’ll tackle that another day :))
Now you have no excuses!!!
