This post, 8 Of The Best Tips For Cruising With A Toddler Series Day 5, was originally published in 2018 and has been completely updated.
Welcome!!!
This is our fifth day of 7 days where we will dive into 8 of the best tips for cruising with a toddler!
So, you want to take a cruise with your family….. that includes a toddler.
But you’re not sure that’s a fantastic idea, let alone a good one.
And you’d really rather not go on a ‘kids’ cruise.
Well, let me share something with you.
We just got back from a 10-day, yup you heard correctly 10-day!, cruise with my 4-days-shy-of-his-3rd-birthday-year-old. It was his first, my second, and without any hoop-la, it went great and is totally worth it!!!
Oh, and just to let you know, this was not a cruise meant for kids or really families for that matter. It was for the more mature, older customer.
And so that’s why I’m going to share with you over these next few days, my tips and tricks for how we ‘survived’ our 10-day non-kid/family cruise and hopefully, it will encourage you too!
And just in case you’d like to catch up before moving forward:
Day 1 – Being flexible.
Day 2 – Outdoor gear.
Day 3 – Play.
Day 4 – Loveys and snacks.

Cruising with a Toddler: Sixth Tip #6- Keep nap/bedtime routine
So you caught me!
I know in Tip #1 I said to stay flexible and not only that but I shared our experience of not keeping with our nap/bedtime routine.
But, at all other times, I did my best to keep to our sleep routine.
For us, that meant a bath, getting into pajamas, reading a book or two, saying prayers, talking for a bit, and then going to sleep.
I’ll be completely honest here. I still hold my little guy until he falls asleep and then I put him down.
This worked perfectly for us.
With the change in scenery, time zones, food, etc. it was nice to be able to cuddle with him and give him reassurance that he was still with family, and loved ones and he never had a problem sleeping.
Oh, I always forget about this… We also use music at sleep times too and I made sure to bring the music and used it every nap and bedtime.
Don’t forget to join us tomorrow for Day 6!!! Another great tip awaits!
