Welcome!!!
This is our fourth day of 7 where we will dive into 8 of the best tips for cruising with a toddler!
So, you want to take a cruise with your family….. that includes a toddler.
But you’re not sure that’s a fantastic idea, let alone a good one.
And you’d really rather not go on a ‘kids’ cruise.
Well, let me share something with you.
We just got back from a 10-day, yup you heard correctly 10 days!, cruise with my 4-days-shy-of-his-3rd-birthday-year-old. It was his first, my second, and without any hoop-la, it went great and is totally worth it!!!
Oh, and just to let you know, this was not a cruise meant for kids or really families for that matter. It was for the more mature, older customer.
And so that’s why I’m going to share with you over these next few days, my tips and tricks for how we ‘survived’ our 10-day non-kid/family cruise and hopefully, it will encourage you too!
And, just in case you missed the first few days:
And just in case you’d like to catch up before moving forward:
Day 1 – Being flexible.
Day 2 – Outdoor gear.
Day 3 – Play.

Cruising with a Toddler Fourth Tip #4- Loveys and Binkies
I know this is such a no-brainer but whatever you do, do your best not to forget your little ones’ lovey or pacifier (if they still use one).
Have you ever accidentally left the house, even if it’s just to get the mail, and have your little one have a total breakdown?
Exactly, so the last thing you want to have to worry about is a screaming child on a ship.
Whenever we were out and about the lovey either was in a bag or stayed in the room ‘to protect it’.
That always seemed to work and thankfully the lovey made it back home with us, safely!
Now, my little guy still uses his pacifier at night so I made sure I brought several back-up pacifiers. They also came in handy during take-offs and landings during our flights to and from the cruise.
Cruising with a Toddler Fifth Tip #5- Bring food/snacks
I’m sure, even if you’ve never taken a cruise before you’ve heard just how fabulous they are because there is always food available. And while this is true for the most part, unless you don’t mind your toddler eating hamburgers for every meal you might want to bring along some food.
I made sure we had vegetable pouches and sure enough they didn’t go to waste!
Because this was a non-kid cruise the options were pretty few.
My son loves pancakes and thankfully that was an option so needless to say, to make sure he ate something he had pancakes almost every morning.
For lunch, it was almost always a hot dog or hamburger with french fries. I couldn’t even get him to eat the pizza.
Luckily my son loves yogurt and so for many dinners that’s what he ate along with applesauce.
So, all in all, I guess it was not horrible but if you want to make sure that your little one(s) gets a little more nutrition than that don’t hesitate to bring extra snacks/food.
It’s always better to have too many snacks than a hungry toddler!
Don’t forget to join us tomorrow for Day 5!!! Another great tip is in store for you.
