Welcome!!!
This is our second of 7 days where we will dive into 8 of the best tips for cruising with a toddler!
In case you missed Day 1, we talked about flexibility.
We all know as parents that being flexible is key to surviving parenthood.
Traveling with a toddler is no different.
The more flexible you can be during your travels the easier and happier everyone will be.
So, you want to take a cruise with your family….. that includes a toddler.
But you’re not sure that’s a fantastic idea, let alone a good one.
And you’d really rather not go on a ‘kids’ cruise.
Well, let me share something with you.
We just got back from a 10-day, yup you heard correctly 10-day!, cruise with my 4-days-shy-of-his-3rd-birthday-year-old. It was his first, my second, and without any hoop-la, it went great and is totally worth it!!!
Oh, and just to let you know, this was not a cruise meant for kids or families. It was for the more mature, older customer.
And so that’s why I’m going to share with you over these next few days, my tips and tricks for how we ‘survived’ our 10-day non-kid/family cruise and hopefully, it will encourage you too!

Second Tip #2- Don’t forget your Outdoor Gear
Whether you’re headed to a sunny destination or a wintry one make sure you have the proper outdoor gear for cruising with a toddler.
And of course, some of these items go for you too 🙂
Our cruise was to the Panama Canal with several stops in the Caribbean which meant:
Sunglasses– Can never start protecting their eyes soon enough! Plus, they’ll get so many compliments 😉
Sun hat– Something that can protect the ears.
Sunscreen – No reason to chance a sunburn! And just as a reminder, just because it’s overcast or cold doesn’t mean you can’t get burnt. In fact, you’re more likely to then because you don’t think you will!
Water bottle – I cannot stress this enough. Make sure you keep your little one(s) hydrated, and yourself for that matter too! The last thing you want is to get dehydrated!
Don’t forget to stay hydrated while traveling!
Bug spray – Because of where our cruise went, they stressed wearing bug spray. We found a great eucalyptus bud spray that worked great.
Stoller– finding one that folds pretty compactly is key. There is limited space in the rooms on cruise ships so the last thing you want is a big bulky stroller taking up valuable space.
Backpack harness– for those times you want your little one to be able to run around but not be completely free.
Light jacket– you know how it’s always cold indoors during the summer?
And of course, if you’re going somewhere cold you’ll want to add:
Heavy jacket
Scarf
Gloves
Boots
Don’t forget to join us tomorrow for Day 3!!! You won’t want to miss it 🙂
