Forts
So this past year or so my son has been big on making forts.
We are very much a DIY family, or at the very least a let’s see if we can do this without spending money family 🙂
With that being said, for the longest time we were using old sheets, hiking sticks and his crib (that we currently use to hold all of our stuffed animals) to make a fort.
We made it work and more importantly he loved it.
He didn’t/doesn’t care.
This is all he knows, right?
So for him it’s awesome.
We loved it too but then I came across this cool fort building kit.
He will actually be getting this for Christmas and I can’t wait to see his reaction.
Not only will he love building it (he’s a budding engineer :)), it’ll be easier for us to enjoy it.
Osmo
What better way to keep you little one learning and their mind growing than with education wrapped in games and fun hands-on activities.
Osmo does this perfectly.
Not only do the children get to ‘play’ on their tablet but they get to use their creativity and knowledge to learn new skills.
Fun Gifts for six-year-olds
Wild Kratts
If you’ve read any posts lately you know my son loves Wild Kratts.
And if you’ve never heard of or watched Wild Kratts I highly recommend it!
It’s this great show that teaches about animals, not only in a live person version but then also in a cartoon version.
The characters go on adventures around the world protecting animals from bad guys or just learning lots of cool facts about animals.
My son has learned so much and loves to share it.
He shared some the other day in his Kindergarten class and his teacher told him that she’ll need to start watching it because she always learns so much from him!
Seriously, it is such a great show.
You’ll love it too.
Legos
O.k., so no, this is obviously not something you would wait until your child is 6 to get but it’s definitely something they will absolutely love!
Legos are something my son and I love to do together so don’t just think of it as something for them to do but maybe as a family project too.
For example, does your child love everything space?
These can get a bit expensive but they do take several days/hours to finish!
Why not get them this Apollo kit, or this Launch control/pad set ( we got this one last year and we had so much fun building it but then also playing with it afterwards!).
Really, they pretty much have every possible option so have fun exploring.
Or why not just get them this great classic kit to help fill out their bricks?
Game Gifts for six-year-olds
Now I’ll start off by saying most, if not all, of these games I’m going to mention are not ‘for’ six-year-olds.
But we play them with my son, and yes, we do modify them a bit for him but he loves playing them and he’s great at it.
Boggle
Boggle is a great word creation game.
My son is starting to learn to sound out words, write words and read so this game is perfect.
For those who know, yes, they have a junior version, that is for 3 and up.
But, as I mentioned above, we are a do with what we have family rather than a go out and buy family especially if we don’t have to.
We’ve tried to modify it for him and he doesn’t want to do it that way so we play it the regular way!
Pictionary
So I never realized just how much drawing Kindergarteners do but they do a lot.
And my son loves it.
He draws so much that Pictionary is an easy given.
Just like Boggle, I know they have a junior edition, but again, we already had the adult version so we just use that.
Sometimes he needs help reading the clue and/or figuring out how/what to draw but out of all of us he’s one of the best drawers!
And there you have it.
Just a few of some of the best gift for six-year-olds out there.
