Are you looking for ways to be happy?
I think we all are, at least at some point or another.
Happiness becomes elusive sometimes, right?
We want to be happy.
We hope we’ll be happy.
We pray to be happy.
And that’s normal, and totally human nature.
But we all know too that it doesn’t just happen, usually, right?
Sometimes we need help and/or suggestions.
And that’s why we’re here!!

Ways to be Happy
Important Note:
First, I want to go over something extremely important.
And that is: you will not be happy all the time.
Not only that but you shouldn’t be.
Those who are, or seem to be happy all the time, are probably not behind closed doors.
Life happens.
Bad things happen.
Stress happens.
So, if you find yourself having a ‘downtime’, that’s o.k. and very normal!
Now, let’s say you’ve been feeling down for a few days and are really wanting to feel happier!
Let’s look at the next 5 tips to be happy whether that being happy in yourself or being happy alone.
Let Go
Let go of the need/feeling that you’re supposed to be happy all the time.
That in itself could be adding to the stress you’re already feeling.
As I mentioned above, it’s normal to not be happy all the time.
Feeling sad, depressed, and/or anxious is a normal part of life.
Give yourself time to be down.
As a saying goes: ‘Just don’t get unpacked’.
Meaning, don’t let yourself stay down, right?
Let yourself have time to process whatever is going on in your life then get back up and keep going.
“Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass. It’s about learning how to dance in the rain.”

Refocus
Have you ever noticed that when you keep thinking about something, you keep thinking about it, lol.
I know, it sounds silly but you know what I mean, right?
And yet, when you refocus on something else, that other thing starts to diminish.
If what is getting you down is out of your control, and after you’ve had time to process it a bit, then work on finding something else to focus on.

Find Your Joy
For example, find your joy!
What do I mean by that?
Well, what do you love to do?
What’s a favorite hobby or activity that makes you happy?
Sometimes it can be as simple as listening to music or reading.
Maybe it’s being outdoors.
How about cooking, cleaning, or organizing?
What about spending time with family or friends?
Maybe a quick phone call is what you need, or some fresh air and sunshine?
Whatever it may be for you, give yourself time to enjoy that activity because even just a few minutes could make a massive difference in your day!

Write
Write down at least three (3) things that happened today, or recently, that made you happy.
Don’t worry about them being big or life-shattering events.
Think small:
Getting to watch your favorite show.
Talking to someone you haven’t spoken to in a while.
Eating that delicious meal and/or dessert!
Having gotten a good night’s sleep.
Sleeping in.
See where I’m going?
All the little things in life matter too.
So, write them down and appreciate them!
Believe
Believe in yourself!
Know that everything has a season – I know how corny that sounds but I truly believe it.
Reread what you’ve written and believe that you can be happy and that you will be happy.
Focus on those things and you’ll see things change (remember, it takes time but small steps make a huge difference!
